I have been tagged by two of my absolute favourite people to do memes, so I’m going to put them in the same post.
.
.
First of all, lovely Di tagged me for a meme which was really a bunch of fives – a number of categories requiring five answers each. I’ve answered honestly, though I’m not sure quite how exciting that makes it all.
.
5 things I was doing 10 years ago:
1. Buying my first computer, complete with Windows 95 and dial up internet connection
2. Dating a lot – like three or four times a week – and loving it!
3. Driving a brown MG Metro
4. Arresting shoplifters
5. Fleeing from Michigan across the bridge to Sarnia, Ontario to get away from a psycho woman
5 Things on Today's To-Do List:
1. Read
2. Check e-mails
3. Take the car in to have the rear offside indicator light fixed
4. Water the plants
5. Do this meme
5 Treats I enjoy:
1. Sleeping
2. Reading
3. Burgers and home fries from Jeff’s New York Deli – the best in town!
4. Tea, as long as I make it myself. No one else gets it right.
5. Receiving books in the mail from Amazon marketplace vendors
5 Things I would do if I were a millionaire. A million doesn’t go all that far these days so make that multi-millionaire.
1. Travel everywhere
2. Buy my parents’ house for double its market value and sell it back to them for a penny – thus avoiding UK Gift Tax.
3. Set up a trust fund for as yet unborn grandchildren.
4. Buy homes in Florida and the Cotswolds, and nice little flats in London and Paris.
5. Retrieve my collection of 78rpm records (approx a thousand of them) from storage and have a special soundproofed room with shelves and a suitable turntable to keep them in, complete with 2 armchairs, where I can enjoy them.
5 Places I have lived
1. St John’s Wood, London
2. Chatellerault, Loire Valley, France
3. Thunder Bay, Ontario
4. Toronto, Ontario
5. Gainesville, Florida

And a few days later I was tagged by Hill, who is a delight to know, for a meme listing seven of my favourite musical albums. I emailed her and asked if she really wanted me to do that. After all, my musical tastes are very, very narrow and I shouldn’t imagine anyone has heard of most of the stuff I like. I speak as someone who hasn’t switched a radio on to listen to music for about 25 years. She replied with words to the effect of “Do the meme, Buster, if you know what’s good for you!” Actually, I exaggerate. She was her usual friendly self, and was kind enough to say she would be interested to know what I listen to. So anyway, here are seven albums I listen to a lot, with examples taken from each in case anyone is curious. I was lucky that I was able to find them on YouTube. It’s amazing what people have uploaded.

Jelly Roll Morton -- The Original Mr Jelly Lord 1923-1941
Fletcher Henderson & his Orch. -- A Study In Frustration (3 disks)
Jazz The World Forgot (2 volumes) -- various obscure bands form the 1920s and early 1930s
Jack Payne & his Orchestras -- Say It With Music
Memphis Jug Band -- Double Album
Abe Lyman & his California Orch. -- 1922-1932
The Beatles -- Abbey Road
That soundproof room sounds like a fun way I'd spend money if I were a multimillionaire too. And I love Beatles Abbey Road (though I prefer Revolver).

Fun memes! The only album I had heard of was Abbey Road, I'm sorry to say. YouTube is pretty awesome.

Hola, Brit!
I knew it. I just knew your selections would be mainly jazz/big band music. It so fits you, in the nicest way possible.
Listened to every single vid, all the way through, even Abbey Road. Can you tell I'm not a Beatles fan? Heresy, I know, but true.
Thank you for participating in this meme. I hardly ever respond to them, as they can get overwhelming, so thank you.
Completely OT, but you might want to ax YouTude from your "Blogs Where I Like To Hang Out" thingie. It had run its course, so I killed it. Don't worry. It was a merciful kill. Clicked on one button and YouTude went to take its permanent dirt nap.
Take care, Brit.
See ya soon!

I might do that five things meme later this week. I'll let you know when I do it though.
I feel the same way about my coffee that you do about tea, except my husband can do it right when he's home. I hate drinking coffee at other people's houses. It's never right.
You have The Beatles and Jelly Roll Morton on that list. Everybody knows those. My local NPR station has played the Jack Payne one. I thought I recognized name so uploaded some of the you tube video to see if I was right.

I've heard of those Beatles guys! Thanks for doing the meme!!! If I ever get back to writing the blog, I will link to yours.
My things to do list today WAS nothing, nothing and nothing. But both of my kids got sick in Mexico. Haley has strep and possibly mono and Rory might have strep. So I'm taking them to the doctor. Hoping I feel less hungover by then.
