Here's a wonderful, almost sad, example of self delusion. I don't know who wrote the letter but it is pretty certain from what she says that she is from blue-collar, silent minority, Middle America. I've no idea how it all ended, when the mother realized what was what and had to use the G-word to describe her son. I hope it turned out well -- I suspect it didn't.
I suspect that magazine was something completely innocent like Men's Health. Doesn't mean the boy is gay. Those bible thumpers always make such a fuss about perfectly normal things.
I'd be seriously pissed off, if I were him, about her "going through his room". She never seems to have heard about the term privacy before.
And honestly, as a mother I would be more concerned if a 17-year-old boy wasn't a bit secretive about anything in his life. It's called puberty.
I really feel sorry for this kid.

I feel sorry for the kid, too. And maybe he's gay, maybe he isn't, but I suspect the whole thing is a joke anyway.

My mother was like this. She imagined all sorts of things wrong with me when I was a kid. It's alright: 30+ years later I'm OK and she's still weird.

I'm not sure if it's a fake, but I couldn't believe the updated version (http://xu.nu/v4c) with her opinion that he can't be gay as their religion doesn't accept homosexuality...
